Egbert Tract: 793.62 Acres ± located in Solano County at the northwestern periphery of the fertile California Delta. Bisected by Liberty Island Road which intersects with Highway 12 about 3 miles to the south.
Level to nearly level with gentle slopes suitable for furrow or border irrigation. Protected from seasonal high water by the Egbert Tract Levee, along Lindsey Slough, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Project Levee that forms the east boundary of the property.
Egbert Silty Clay Loam, Omni Silty Clay Loam and Sacramento Clay are deep, fertile and alluvial in nature. It should be noted that the Egbert Series in the area is recognized as being capable of producing 5.5 ton corn, or better, per acre.
Irrigation water is obtained from Lindsey Slough by means of flood gates. Furrow irrigation. Riparian Water Rights. Several homes, a metal equipment shed and a pole barn, which are suitable for the successful operation of the property.
The revenue derived from Reclamation District #536 semi-annual assessments pays for operational costs including upkeep and maintenance in connection with the Lindsey Slough levee, the main drainage and irrigation canals and the drainage pumps within the District.
Currently leased on a cash rent basis. About 653 net farm acres are planted to safflower. The soils and climate, in combination with the abundant irrigation water, result in a farming property that is well suited to a wide variety of crops including Corn, Tomatoes, Sugar Beets, and Alfalfa. Alternative uses might include irrigated pasture or permanent plantings of trees or vines. Zoned "A-80".
From Lindsey Slough, which represents the north boundary line of the ranch, one may navigate from the ranch through the Delta to the oceans beyond the Golden Gate. Waterfowl, Pheasant and other game birds frequent the area. Numerous fish may be found in the waterways. The North Delta Wildlife Refuge is planned to be developed within a short distance to the north east of the farm.
